Dr. Tarafdar’s passion for education is exemplified by the various teaching events he has conceptualised. In 2015, he founded the “Revise Nephrology” weekend program for Basic Physician Trainees of Australia and Néw Zealand , which has since trained over 1,200 doctors so far. He also conceptualised the “Australia and New Zealand General Medicine Update (ANZGMU)", a Sydney-based annual conference started in 2019 that in the year 2024 was attended by 140 doctors including 80 consultants. 
 
Apart from multiple peer reviewed publications. Dr Tarafdar is the primary author and editor of *Lecture Note Nephrology: A Comprehensive Guide to Renal Medicine*, published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2020. His contributions have earned him multiple teaching awards and the title of Consultant of the Year at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals in both 2019 and 2024.

Ronald Castelino is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health, School of Pharmacy. He is a practising renal pharmacist (Blacktown Hospital) with a track record in translational research relevant to renal medicine. He is also interested in health services research that focusses on developing interventions to improve medication safety and quality use of medicines. 

Ron completed his PhD from the University of Sydney in 2011 and moved to the University of Tasmania (UTAS, 2011-2016) as a Lecturer in Therapeutics at the School of Medicine. At UTAS, he was involved in teaching therapeutics to 3rd & 4th year Pharmacy students and 3rd year Medicine students. He returned to the University of Sydney as a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy in 2016.

A/Prof Karumathil Murali was trained in Nephrology and Hypertension in the Toronto General Hospital in Canada and Westmead Hospital in NSW, Australia. He was awarded a Master of Medicine degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney, with distinction. A/Prof Murali is the Clinical Lead for educational activities in the Department of Nephrology at Wollongong Hospital. He is a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Wollongong and is actively involved in teaching medical students and junior medical officers.  He is active in clinical research and his research work has been published in reputed international journals. He has also been an invited speaker to present Nephrology topics in numerous regional, national, and international forums. 

Prof. Lim Soo Ku MRCP

Malaysia Society of Nephrology

Lim Soo Kun is an Associate Professor & Consultant Nephrologist and Head of Renal Division at the University Malaya Medical Center. Professor Lim began his professional career after graduating in 1999. He became board-certified in nephrology in 2008, and has been a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and a member of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia, since 2012. Professor Lim’s main interests are in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and pre-dialysis CKD education, systemic lupus erythematosus and kidney transplantation. He contributes actively in numerous professional commitments, including serving as secretary and council member of the Malaysian Society of Nephrology, committee member of the Malaysian Registry of Renal Biopsy, expert panel member of the National Transplant Registry and member of the National Credentialing Committee, Specialty Subcommittee for Nephrology. Professor Lim has published widely in his field of expertise and has been an invited speaker at numerous international and national congresses. 

Professor Mumtaz Patel MBChB (Hons), FRCP (UK), FHEA, MSc Med Ed (Dist), PhD

President, Royal College of Physicians (Senior censor and vice president for education and training)

Professor Mumtaz Patel is President of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), a consultant nephrologist at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Professor at both the University of Liverpool and Manchester. Elected in April 2025, she is the first woman of South Asian heritage to lead the RCP in its 500-year history. She studied medicine at the University of Manchester, qualifying in 1996, and completed her PhD in the genetics of lupus nephritis in 2006. She became a consultant in 2007 and completed her master's in medical education in 2014 and since then has developed a national reputation in postgraduate education, assessment, and training. Professor Patel has held a range of senior roles, and including RCP Senior Censor, Vice President for Education and Training (VPET), and Global Vice President. As VPET, she led the development of a new education strategy, and during her tenure as Global VP, she expanded international engagement and launched the RCP’s Global Women Leaders programme. She previously served as Postgraduate Associate Dean for NHS England (Northwest) and is Director for Conduct and Progress at the University of Liverpool’s School of Medicine. She acted as RCP President from mid-2024 before her formal election in 2025.

 

Dr David Voss

David Voss is a senior specialist renal physician based at Middlemore Hospital for Health New Zealand, Auckland; where has worked for 33 years. He is a fellow of Royal Australian College of Physicians and American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. He is vice-president of Asia Pacific Society of Dialysis Access; member of Australia and New Zealand Society of Nephrology Pacific Working Group; member of both the international and research committees of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. He is a past Chair of the Australia and New Zealand Interventional Nephrology Group. Dr Voss holds regular nephrology clinics in Samoa, and previously Fiji.  He has held the position of specialist renal physician to NKF Samoa since 2009. He is the renal medicine advisor to the New Zealand Defence Force. He has more than 60 peer reviewed clinical and research publications. He has a special interest in the early detection and management of renal disease, renal nutrition and dialysis access.  He is passionate about education.

A/Prof Nitesh Rao deals with the diagnosis and management of kidney disease in adults and has clinical expertise in chronic kidney disease & diabetic nephropathy, management of renal anaemia and bone disease, hypertension, haemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation. 

 

Dr Sanjay Pandya MD, DNB Nephrology

Senior Nephrologist, Rajkot, Gujarat, India 

Dr. Sanjay Pandya is a senior nephrologist practicing in Rajkot (Gujarat - India). He earned his Doctor of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from M. P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar (Gujarat) in 1986, and DNB Nephrology from the Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Center, Ahmedabad in 1989. From 1990 onwards he is practicing as Nephrologist at Rajkot (Gujarat), India. Dr. Pandya is actively involved in kidney disease education. Kidney book for patients in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Kutchi languages is authored by him. “Kidney Education Foundation” has been formed by Dr. Sanjay Pandya with the mission to spread awareness amongst a large number of people for the prevention and care of kidney disease.

Dr Wong is an Associate Professor in Medicine, University of Sydney, Senior Consultant Nephrologist and Director of Renal Research at the Concord Repatriate General Hospital, Sydney, He is a Clinician researcher with a strong interest in understanding the pathomechanism of kidney fibrosis and has actively promoted the development of both clinical and pre-clinical research in delaying chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression in glomerular diseases, including IgA nephropathy, FSGS, diabetic nephropathy, and management of cardiovascular complications associated with CKD. He is a steering committee member of the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Clinical Trial group that will develop a coordinated and system-wide approach to clinical trials management within the SLHD and provide strategic direction for future initiatives. He co-Chair the local organising committee for the Annual Scientific Meeting, Australia New Zealand Society of Nephrology, Sydney 2022, and is the current Chair of the Education Committee for the Asia Pacific Society of Nephrology (ANZSN). He has served as Chair of the Oceania South East Asia Regional Board, International Society of Nephrology, and is a Honorary Executive Officer for the ANZSN.

Dr Mitali N Fadia

Senior Staff Specialist at the Canberra Hospital (TCH)Australian National University (ANU) 

Dr Mitali Fadia is a senior staff specialist at the Canberra hospital and A/Prof at the Australian National University (ANU). She got her RCPA fellowship in 2011. She spent her pathology training at the Canberra hospital, after which she was appointed as a Staff Specialist. Her key interests are in perinatal pathology, neuropathology, nephropathology, gastrointestinal pathology and molecular pathology. She has published many articles including nephropathology. She is the clinical director of cytopathology department. She is passionate about teaching medical students, registrars and allied health. 

 

Dr Hamid  Hajian MD, PhD, FRACS 

Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, University of Sydney and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australia 

Dr Hajian is a Sydney-based vascular and endovascular surgeon. He is a member of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Australia and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr Hajian also has a PhD in vascular tissue engineering and designing new generations of biomaterials from the University of Sydney. He won the best trainee Research Prize in Australia and New Zealand during his training in 2016. Hamid has a special interest in providing minimally invasive interventions for patients with peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins, aneurysms and those who need access surgery for dialysis or chemotherapy. 

 

Dr Eric Au MBBS(Hons) MPH MBiostat PhD

Nephrologist, Alfred Hospital, VIC, Australia; Senior Lecturer, University of Melbourne, Australia 

Eric is a nephrologist at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and a clinical epidemiology fellow at the ANZSN/ANZDATA . He has undertaken training in epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Sydney and completed a PhD project on the epidemiology of cancer after kidney transplantation in 2022.

 

Dr Durga A K Kanigicherila MBBS, MD, FRCP

Dr Durga Anil Kanigicherla is a clinical academic nephrologist working at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, UK, and holds an honorary academic post at the University of Manchester. Having trained in both India and the UK, including a fellowship at Imperial College London, he brings a global perspective to clinical care and research. Areas of interest and expertise: Immune kidney disease, Transplantation, Higher specialty training and fellowship programs, Patient engagement and Clinical pathways.

 

Dr Bhadran Bose MBBS, MRCP (UK), FRACP

Dr. Bhadran Bose is a Senior Staff Specialist in Nephrology at Nepean and Blue Mountains hospitals and is also affiliated with the University of Sydney. He has a profound interest in glomerular diseases and renal complications during pregnancy. Dr. Bose completed his MRCP in the United Kingdom and subsequently attained his FRACP after training in Nephrology at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. He further pursued a post-FRACP fellowship focusing on glomerular disorders at the University of Toronto, Canada. He completed his PhD on the treatment of glomerular disease at the University of Queensland, with a particular emphasis on membranous nephropathy. Dr. Bose is a member of several steering committees dedicated to research in glomerular disease. He has made significant contributions to international nephrology journals through original research articles, review papers, and textbook chapters, and he actively serves as a scientific reviewer. His professional endeavours also include active participation in research and the advancement of medical education.

 

Dr Shannon Thomas BSC,MED HONS, MBBS HONS, FRACS

Vascular and Renal Transplant Surgeon; Prince of Wales Hospital, NSW, Australia

Dr Thomas is an Australian trained Vascular, Endovascular and Renal Transplant Surgeon who holds appointments at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, and a conjoint lecturer position at the University of New South Wales. Having completed post fellowship training at the Park Krankenhaus Hospital in Leipzig, Germany and Polyclinico Abano Terme in Veneto, Italy, Dr Thomas has developed a subspecialty interest in Diabetic Vasculopathy, in particular, small vessel angioplasty techniques to salvage critically ischaemic limbs. His other interests include interventional nephrology (Renal Access), Aortic Aneurysmal and occlusive disease, as well as Spinal Access surgery. These interests are accompanied by active vascular research and teaching commitments. He was awarded the 'Global Peripheral Artery Disease Specialist of the year' in the year 2023.

 

Dr Amanda Mather FRACP, PhD

HOD Renal Medicine, Royal North Shore Hospital, NSW, Australia; Senior Lecturer, Northern Clinical School, University of Sydney, Australia.

Dr Amanda Mather is currently the head of department of renal medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. She is a Nephrologist and Obstetric Medicine Physician and oversees the hypertension service with a special interest in primary hyperaldosteronism. She is the current chair of the PQC committee for the ANZSN. Amanda completed her medical degree at University of New South Wales and her PhD at the University of Sydney. She has a strong interest in medical education and her clinical research interests include clinical outcomes in high risk pregnancies, hypertension and chronic kidney disease. 

 

Prof. Shankar N Prasad MBBS, MD (Internal Medicine), DNB (Internal Medicine), DM (Nephrology)

Dr. Shankar Prasad Nagaraju is working as Professor & Unit Head in the Department of Nephrology at Kasturba Medical College, MAHE, Manipal, India .
After doing DM NEPHROLOGY, he has done Fellowship in Clinical Nephrology at University of Ottawa, Canada. He has led several national and international initiatives, including an ICMR-funded RCT on renal supportive care and contributions to the ISN's strategic plan for integrated kidney supportive care as a working group member. He is also a BIRAC grant awardee for developing an indigenous dialysis cartridge from Government of India. With over 100 Scopus-indexed national and international publications, he actively reviews for reputed nephrology journals and has received multiple international travel grants as young Nephrologist from YNP ,ERA EDTA and ISN.

 

Professor Michał Nowicki, MD, is a distinguished professor of medicine and nephrology and the Head of the Department of Nephrology, Hypertension and Kidney Transplantation of the Medical University of Lodz, Poland. He graduated from the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, Poland, in 1988, and worked in the Department of Nephrology, Endocrinology and Metabolic Disease at his Alma Mater for the first 12 years. From 1992 to 1994, he was also a research fellow at the Department of Nephrology at Ruperto Carola University in Heidelberg, Germany. From 2000 to 2008, he was the Head of the Nephrology and Dialysis Department of the Polish Mother's Health Memorial Institute in Lodz. Since 2003, he has been the Head of the Department of Nephrology, Hypertension and Kidney Transplantation of the Medical University of Lodz. He received the title of Professor in 2002. He is a specialist in internal medicine, nephrology, hypertension, and clinical transplantology. His main areas of scientific interest include pathophysiology and metabolism in uremia and primary arterial hypertension, renal anemia, CKD-MBD, physical rehabilitation in dialysis, health consequences of air pollution and climate changes, and rare and ultra-rare diseases involved with kidneys.

Dr Tan Hui Zhuan MBBS (Hons) (Melbourne), MRCP (UK), MMed (Internal Medicine), FAMS (Renal Medicine)

Dr Tan Hui Zhuan is a consultant nephrologist at the Singapore General Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. She has a keen interest in Onco-nephrology and Glomerular diseases and oversees the onco-nephrology service at Singapore General Hospital. Her clinical and research interests include treatment-related nephrotoxicity, paraprotein-associated kidney disorders and novel therapeutic approaches in glomerular diseases. In addition to her scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals, she is deeply committed to advancing medical education and mentorship across both undergraduate and post graduate training.
